Saturday Centus - Sixteen...Dang!

Welcome to Saturday Centus, sponsored by Jenny Matlock, of Off on My Tangent. Our fearless headmistress has me feeling just a little uneasy at this point. Our assignment this week is to write about ourselves when we were 16 years old. What is going on? Is she doing that mid-life thing where 40 year old men climb mountains and then jump off of them? Or when women pull out that high school cheerleader uniform and actually think they are going to fit in it? Lord, help us all! This could be me today! The kicker, my friends, as that we may only use 16 words. Well, you all know what a chatty Kathy I am, so I had to actually put on that cheerleader uniform so that I could be motivated. Of course it didn't work! I've been crying my eyes out for the last two hours! Thankfully, we get to use a picture. So, after cruising through the family pics, I came up with the nerdy 16-year old picture. Here is my offering. Maybe some of you can relate to it...

When I was 16, I was in love… with boys… who played sports… any dang sport.

Thanks for stopping by this beautiful day. Click on Jenny's logo below and see what some of my blog buds have written!

Perfectly written...for every sports season, I was in the same boat...loved from afar and at 16, I had it bad for a surfing basketball player !!!

Very nice dress and hair! Imagine, you were dressed up and no clevage showing! Today that isn't true. And boys, they were different too...sports were just that, sport!

I remember a couple of crushes...but I was the shy wallflower and the sports guys were oblivious to my quiet charms :)

Fabulous photo! Love the hair. Your words say it so well. It was at about age 16 that my focus moved from horsemanship to boys.

That is quite the hair! I always wondered WHAT you gals did to make it that big. No way my hair would do it

I'm with Carrie, how the heck did you all do that to your hair?! I love it. You were gorgeous- there aren't too many teenagers who are truly pretty. I thought you were in your early twenties when that picture popped up!

I guess it's a good thing that people are reading into my Centus something that is so different than I intended it to be. It is really about living with people who are self-absorbed and controlling, and mean-spirited--not only at Christmas, but all the time. It is way more complicated, Liz, and I had just had a dusting of it when I wrote that post. Thanks for your comment! I need all the spiritual help I can get!!

I love that bee-hivey hair! Mine was always too short to do that with...but, oh, how I lusted after that particular style!

This was a wonderfully creative gem of an SC! I love the line...any sports!

I think we were all a little boy crazy back then!

Hugs and thanks for linking!
