Brrrrrrr from Chicago!

It's SNOWING in Chicago!  To the locals, it is a dusting...to this SoCal girl, it's a full-blown, winter blizzard.  I know, I know...I'm a wuss!  WI, MN, MI, ND, MT and the Northeast know what snowing really means!  I've been waiting for the white stuff...shoulda happened on Dec. 24th, but I'll take this now.

The Tootsinator and I went out this morning, but I couldn't get her to pose for anything...

Hmmmmm...some boys have been here....

Who's there?  I know you are watching me...WHO IS THERE??????

We had a great walk...it lasted about 10 minutes. It was enough for me to get my winter wonderland fix!  Now I am ready to start thinking about longer and warmer days...or at least a time when my walks are longer than getting ready for them!

I'm from Chicago, IL.  Welcome to my City!  Please stop by Sundays in My City hosted by the illuminating Unknown Mami and see what's happening in some other great places!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful week...give a way one of your million dollar smiles to someone!  It just might make their day...and yours!

Friday Brrrrrrr Fragmentsss!

Did you catch the news?  It snowed in Fargo!  I know!  It's too soon!  Our temps here in Chicago are 20 degrees lower than 24 hours ago! Nooooooooooo!!!  Hope our Chicago Marathon visitors have come prepared!

All my "cold weather" stuff is still in St. Louis!  I guess that means a "road trip" to the house... getting hugs from my favorite girls... bear hugs from my favorite boys... and picking up that "miracle fiber" jacket that always seems to keep the cold out!  I know it's going to be a little bigger on me than it was last winter, but then I guess I'll just have to add another sweater underneath!  I love that jacket!  I don't really want to buy a new coat since this one still works!  Do you have a favorite piece of clothing that just keeps on "working?"  I'm embarrassed to say how long I've had it; sort of like that "favorite" chair that a spouse is always trying to dump at the next garage sale!

It's been a week of job applications, resumes, phone calls and closet inspections!  What the heck am I going to wear if someone actually wants me to interview?  I'm good...unless I get called back for a second interview!  Then, it will be time to really get creative!  I hope that happens... because my butt is getting very sore sitting in front of the screen typing the same old stuff over and over and over.... patience and faith, my dear!

Whether you're running, driving or rearranging your closets, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Sundays In My City - Brrrrrrrrr!!

Last night's news showed film of beach buddies basking in Venice Beach, CA. The newscasters moaned and groaned. Then they started with our local weather. First they said we would get a dusting. Then they said the whole dang storm was going to pass us by. I was secretly hoping they were wrong...AND THEY WERE!!! I don't have to work at either job today and I'm loving it!

The picture above is from my kitchen window (because I'm too wimpy to go outside and shoot). We have a "bowl" in the common area behind our house, which, I am told, was supposed to be a pond when the subdivision was built. It never became a pond, but does occasionaly when we get a hard and fast rain...and only lasts for a few hours. So, in the winter, it is a magnet for kids on sleds! I am such a wimp! When the kids were little, I would watch them play in the snow from the house. I would only throw on boots and a coat if I saw a crowd of kids waiving their arms for assistance with a downed sledder whose limbs were bent in unnatural positions.

This storm won't constitute a "snow day" tomorrow, as I am sure by then all of the streets will be plowed and there will be no excuse why I couldn't drive or walk .5 mile to work.

This post is brought to you by Unknown Mami at Sundays in My City. Please click on the logo below and take a stroll through the streets of San Francisco!

A Plateau Already?

Those of you who know what the title of this post means, please join me in one very big "Uggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! During this second week, we had some nasty ice & snow, and being the "balance challenged" person that I am, I did not walk the dog. Also, two snow days interrupted my 1.5 mile walks that I complete at work delivering messages, etc...(see 1/28/09 post on my other blog, "bizzymissliz" to see what I mean by "etc.") I couldn't chase the dog around the house because the kids had friends over and they threatened me to behave.

That's okay. I'm still off of refined sugar and white flour. Much of the snow melted yesterday, so I hope to get out today...after grocery shopping for football snacks, and taking Kayta out for her birthday dinner, and then preparing the football snacks, fighting for a good spot to watch the game (that ought to work off a few calories) and then cleaning up the debris and carnage left over from the game!

I hope that your Super Sunday is fun and relaxing!
