Sundays in My City - Late Bloomers

These beautiful flowers just recently presented themselves! I guess it's still Spring, until Summer officially arrives (even though it is in the 80's today). I took these pictures a few days ago, just after one of our lovely thunderstorms. I am in awe of some of the "WOWS" that Mother Nature and God put together for us.

My lovely teens and their father are on their way home from the Volkswagon Festival. I wanted to get this post out before too much of the day slipped by. I will post the pictures taken, after I have had a chance to censure the "not fit for print" photos! Instead, I will share another eye-popping pic of my Late Bloomers!

I think that "late bloomers" are the blessings right in front of our faces, that we sometimes forget about. For instance, that gangly-metal mouthed, walking ball of acne with glasses, whom we all love and cherish, suddenly stands before us as a toned, smooth and confident, drop-dead gorgeous young man or woman. Wow! When did this happen! Pay attention, parents! It could happen to you!

We need to notice the ones who may have lost their way along the trail; the ones who may not have made all the "right" choices, but are learning that they are loved while they figure it all out. Sure, they have embarrassed and sometimes humiliated us, (don't most of them do it at some point or another?), but they belong to us forever and it really isn't that difficult to find the goodness somewhere tucked inside. That's when the joy comes. Speaking of joy, here's another peek at the special corner of my front yard.

Hope you experience some joy today! It could be standing right next to you...now!

Lovely flowers....I long for warm weather!! This has been such a cold rainy spring here...I swear the only thing I"m growing is moss and slugs. :) It's also nice to find another blogger with teenagers...I have a 15 and a 12 year old and you know what they ROCK!!

I agree that U.M. is delightful :)

I know what you mean; as a middle school teacher, I see kids in their most awkward stage of development. It's always really fun to go to graduation and see them (four years later), having come into their own.

I find it fascinating that you did this post. Just yesterday I was doing dishes and thinking of the whole concept of late bloomers. It's like I needed to read this.
