It's Showtime!

Welcome to Saturday Centus, part of my Saturday morning routine as I consume my 32 ounces of coffee! Jenny Matlock Off On My Tangent sponsors this always entertaining weekly meme where we are challenged to write a story, poem, or other means of the written word, using a prompt of her fancy. Our contributions can be no more than 100 words, (not including the prompt) and cannot be accompanied by a picture.

We all impatiently waited for the show to begin. Freddie leaned over to whisper into Susie’s ear. I so wanted to know what he was saying to her, since she made the ugliest face as he spoke! Fern and Dana were playing Patty-Cake for the fiftieth time! I wanted to scream “stop it!” Becky couldn’t leave her dress alone, and Timmy picked his nose…continuously.

I thought, “What am I doing here with these knuckleheads?” I looked around at the audience and it dawned on me that the average age was five. I looked down and shook my head. Just then, the curtain parted…

Sorry...my story, minus the prompt, stops here at 100 words exactly!

Thanks for stopping by. If you dare, please feed my ego with a comment of a few words of sugar, spice or vinegar - whatever you'd like! If you hunger for more quick reads, please hop over to Jenny's house by clicking on the logo below!

Enjoy the weekend! St. Louis has SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no the curtain parted, just as I was so eager to read the rest...as I sit here too having had a bit too much coffee this morning and still feeling sleepy eyed...why is that? What an interesting way to deliver this prompt...I always seem to have far too many words so this morning I thought, strive for just 50 and gee did that work! Thanks for such a sweet story!

when I totally get into a book, I "see" it all. You did a great job with the detail as I saw him picking his nose. yuk.

good job.

Well done for sticking to the rules -you'll have to finish it somewhere else now!

Really well written, I can feel her anxiety level ratcheting up with every word. I'm going to guess a Barney performance? Eeks, that would turn this into a horror story :) Kat

You did a fabulous job of putting your readers right in the middle of the action. It was concrete and very visual - and I want to know if the nose picking continued!

Namaste..........cj

Things can only get worse at children's show like this ;-)

How did you do that? You absolutely nailed that in exactly 100 words...told us a story, left us hanging...I really liked this.

Even the nose picking part!
